Au revoir is an original 3-dimensional/ sculptural piece of original abstract art. It tells the story of our lives in constant motion like waves of the ocean, yet the colors blue and purple bring calmness. Our stories being constantly formed, reshaped and reinvented. Don't we all go through massive waves of emotions and feelings originating from all the changes that keep constantly happening in our lives. Our stories get written, reshaped and rewritten in many ways, but they always persist until we meet them again in a new form. In fact the only things that I know they do are change and persist.
Au revoir is 9 x 11 inches and is created with hand cut pieces of yupo paper painted with alcohol inks and hand assembled with love in a shadow box. Check out the detailed shots to get an idea of depth and 3-dimensional / sculptural effect.
To make this style of art, I start off creating my alcohol ink abstracts on yupo paper, just like I always do. I then carve out holes and burn the edges using a soldering iron - a tool that has been in my house since my early engineering days. I then arrange these pieces to form exquisite patterns, play with light and shadow to convey messages of community and collaboration through my art.
